Château des Comtes de Challes : Wine cellar in Challes-les-Eaux
Inheriting from the historic wine-growing farm of the 11th century, where the Counts of Challes had their fortress built in 1450, the wine cellar is a rare testament to time. In this vibrant, stone-paved, vaulted space, there is a sense of sanctity that envelops you as soon as you cross the threshold, as if time has frozen to allow emotions to bask in eternal purity.
It is within this historic wine cellar in Challes-les-Eaux, maintained at constant temperature and humidity, that our bottles are stored: 20,000 bottles representing around 400 references from all regions of France—the Château's treasure. Here, the bottles quietly age, their aromas complexifying to reach their organoleptic peak.
Visit and wine testing
Every evening at 6 PM, Franck Gourdin, the restaurant director, and the team of sommeliers offer guests of the Château a private tour of the wine cellar, followed by a guided tasting of three wines accompanied by appetizers.
Educational and entertaining, this moment of exchange is a unique experience, undoubtedly a privileged one.
With an introduction to tasting, technical learning, stories of the estates and their vintages, and a passion for wine, this daily tasting engages the senses and gives new meaning to the word "sharing."
The Château des Comtes de Challes is the first hotel in Savoie to be certified "Vignobles et Découvertes."
Ideal for team-building activities, perfect for a friendly gathering among colleagues or clients, the visit to the wine cellar of the Château des Comtes de Challes is also open to guests who are not staying at the hotel: €20 per person, by reservation at +33 (0)4 79 72 72 72 or info@chateaudescomtesdechalles.com.
